Coriolanus is a tragedy by William Shakespeare written between 1605 and 1608. The play follows a young, fast-rising general named Caius Martius, who earns the title of Coriolanus by winning a military victory for Rome. Unfortunately, he is completely unable to coexist with the citizens of Rome that he's sworn to protect, and ends the play banished from Rome, surrounded by enemies.

Coriolanus is an intensely political, controversial play. Since it was written, people have tried to project a political message onto this play. Politicians have even used elements of this play to support everything from brutal fascist rule to marxist reforms. A World Elsewhere Ensemble believe this play presents a deeply human story that defies political definition. It offers us a timeless landscape to investigate questions like: What does it mean to leave someone with an irreversible change? What happens to a society when they get the embodiment of all the values that they claim to believe in?

Dylan will be playing Fifth Citizen in this production of Coriolanus.
